First Online Webinar Training For Camp and Ministry Leaders
On October 23, 2010, CCIJ provided a new way of training, which was made possible through the kind services of CCI USA (CCCA). Four (4) sessions of 20 minutes each were viewed, followed by 20 minutes of interactive discussion by 2 experts, after which the topic was discussed in our setting with our participants. It was a rich and value-adding experience.
Topics and speakers included:
Reggie McNeal, "Ministering Effectively to an Ever- Changing and Evolving Culture"
Charles Lee, "Thinking, Acting and Living Creatively"
Guy Richards, "Word-of-Mouth Deconstruction"
Duffy Robbins, "The Power of Making Memories"
What did we learn?
Ø ‘Churches should have an external rather than internal focus, pay attention more to people development rather than programs and focus on being a movement rather than an institution’.
Ø ‘The need for Camp leaders to pursue a level of innovation in their planning and execution of the camp experience, and how to....’
Ø We must ensure that ‘SOMETHING’ happens at camp that results in positive lasting memories for each camper. Therefore our camps should include elements of these:
Surprise, Outrageous, Make Friends, Experiential,
Tradition, Humor, Interesting, Novelty, Get Involved
The day was well spent and all participants left reporting that they earned “SOMETHING” from the event.
Look out for us!!
Some of our Board members plan to visit camps in St. Ann and St. Mary during the month of November. We love to connect more with you and see how CCIJ can be of more/better service to your camp/ministry. So, listen out for Janet's call to arrange our visit.
